Introduction
Morven Offshore Wind Limited (MvOWL), a joint venture between JERA Nex bp Limited and EnBW Energie Baden‑Württemberg AG, is developing the Morven South Offshore Wind Array Project (“Morven South”), a proposed fixed‑foundation offshore wind farm located in the North Sea, approximately 86km from the Aberdeenshire coast.
MvOWL is seeking consent for Morven South under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, together with the required marine licences under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009. Morven South comprises offshore infrastructure, including wind turbines and foundations, offshore substation platforms and foundations, inter‑array and interconnector cables, and associated infrastructure located within the Morven South Boundary. Consent for offshore export cables and onshore transmission infrastructure will be sought separately and is not covered by the information presented on this website.
Morven South forms part of the wider Morven Option Lease Agreement Site awarded through the ScotWind Leasing Round and is located wholly within Plan Option Area E1, as identified in Scotland’s Sectoral Marine Plan for Offshore Wind Energy. The Morven Option Lease Agreement Site is being progressed as two distinct projects: the Morven North Offshore Wind Array Project and the Morven South Offshore Wind Array Project. Consent for the Morven North Offshore Wind Array Project is being sought separately and is covered on a separate website.
Digital Documents
To support the Section 36 Consent and marine licence applications, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been completed for Morven South in accordance with the Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 and the Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007. A Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) has also been undertaken in line with the Conservation of Offshore Marine Habitats and Species Regulations 2017, which includes a Report to Inform Appropriate Assessment (RIAA), supported by screening and assessment of Likely Significant Effects on European sites. The application is also supported by a Derogation Case, including an associated Compensation and Evidence Plan.
The Morven South EIA Report, RIAA and Derogation Case submitted as part of the applications are available in digital format on this website.
